Water Lily

Of course not every thing that is worth photographing moves quickly in the Kruger. When we stopped on our final day in the park for a much needed pee-pee break I noticed the water-lilies in the water feature at the main gate at Skukuza. These guys open and close everyday and I managed to catch one in the process of opening as it was still nice and early in the morning. A little fill-in flash helped to brighten the detail in the centre of the lily. With all the layers going on here I can't help but think of Donkey and Shrek having a conversation about onions :-)

Dandelions in the Sun

Dandelions always make such great subjects for macro photography. The field next to my parents' home is alive with them and they stand out wonderfully backlit by the late afternoon sun. I took my chance to capture some of them. Now one would think it super easy to do a great shot of a stationary subject

Isle of Skye: Flodigarry

I am truly a South African by birth but have spent a large portion of my life on this earth living in Scotland. Edinburgh to be exact. So does that make me a Scottish-African or an African Scot? :-) It was with a heavy heart in 2009 that my family and I decided that for now our time in Scotland had come to an end and that we were moving to South Africa.
