Buachaille Etive Mor

Ben Nevis is Scotland’s highest mountain and stands head and shoulders above anything that it’s neighbouring countries can throw at it to challenge for the title of the highest mountain in Great Britain. So in that it is a Great Mountain! However for me the most famous Scottish mountain is by far Buachaille Etive Mor. I mean with a name like that how could you not be famous! Make sure that when you try and say this wonderful name you include a cheek-full of phlegm at the ‘ch’ in Buachaille. It’s often referred to as ‘The Buachaille”, pronounced like ‘buckle’ but with a ch — buchle and stands sentinel at the Southern entrance to Scotland’s most notorious of glens – Glen Coe! This valley is so steeped in history and lore that when you stand beneath it’s towering mountainous walls you can almost hear the voices and feel the presence of those who have passed before. But this post is about the magic that is ‘The Buachaille!” Survey and enjoy!
