We are also enjoying taking these photos in Baby C’s home, and, like our recent session with the Boyer family, it was another lovely opportunity to crossover a little more into photojournalism and capture life the way it actually happens for these sweet little ones.

Mark had the joy of shooting a family session with the Boyers here in Washington… and what a treat, a bright and happy baby boy was in the mix!

Ollie seemed a little bewildered by the big round lens that kept being pointed in his direction.

But he managed to get over it and give us some smiles!

One big happy family!! I am amazed at these well-posed dogs!

Enjoying these photos reminded me how important it is to enjoy your life and your little ones as they are now… We need to keep pointing the camera at our little ones too, because they won’t be like this for long!

Here’s the scoop! Our winter workshop will introduce the fundamentals of exposure and composition, and you’ll learn practical tips and techniques that will improve the outcome every time you pick up your camera.

Topics covered will include:
+ camera controls & settings
+ basic composition techniques for taking better pictures
+ understanding aperture
+ making sense of shutter speed & ISO
+ metering basics & exposure

Quiver Tree’s Introduction to Digital Photography winter workshop will take place at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Washington, NC on Saturday, February 23rd from 9 am to 4 pm. The cost for the course is $100. {Lunch included! woot!} You’ll get $10 off the cost of the course for every friend you invite who also signs up! The workshop will include two practical “break out” sessions, where you’ll head outside and actually practice what you’re learning, and then head back inside and talk about how it went. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.

We’ll also be giving away a free mentoring session to one lucky attendee!

If you’re not having fun, what’s the point, right?

At the end of it all, our favourite part of doing these wonderful sessions (besides enjoying the moments with so many cool people) was getting Christmas cards with photos we took! What a treat! We’re planning to display them in the Quiver Tree Gallery next Christmas!

We’re thinking about doing spring mini-sessions, perhaps around Easter this year. Leave a comment to let us know if you’re interested and we’ll be sure to let you know the dates before anyone else!

Elizabeth said she wanted to choose a cool new local photographer to do her senior session and we were delighted she chose us!

We were even more delighted when Elizabeth was VERY happy with the results of her session!

Our precious little Arabella arrived on November 15. Her brothers love her, we’re crazy about her, and even though life is a little wild right now, we can’t imagine how we ever lived without her!

She was a very willing subject for her first ever photo shoot.

As a matter of fact, it might be reasonable to say she was the easiest subject I’ve ever had.

Pretty peaceful in front of the camera, hey?

We decided to photograph her with a little calabash rattle from South Africa (in addition to the monthly stickers) to show her progress each month.

And a month has already passed!
